You've already put your hands on Jim Steck's work ; literally. Cups at Dennys, placemats at McDonald's, counter displays at Pizza Hut; Jim has illustrated many campaigns for a variety of national companies. Major magazines also appreciate Jim's humorous style, as evidenced in issues of Nickelodeon Magazine, Sports Illustrated for Kids, and Hey Kids! Magazine.

Jim enjoys illustrating books, especially children's books, where he can showcase his talent for fun, colorful backgrounds and character continuity. Jim and his wife Terri have recently published their first children's book; Little Rhino has no Horn.

Upon graduation in 1983 from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Jim bought a one-way ticket to Central Florida. A well-rounded illustrator, his portfolio includes samples of corporate work for such industries as home and commercial building, entertainment and theme parks, the internet, sports, environmental, educational, products, services, and more. Serving advertising agencies as senior art director for nearly two decades, local and regional Addy awards now line the walls of his home office.

A native of Orchard Park, New York, Jim is an avid sports fan and entertainment trivia buff. He met his wife, Terri, at an ad agency where she was director of public relations. A self-taught fantasy artist who has been drawing anything he could imagine since childhood. Besides being a fantasy artist Stanley works fulltime at an art manufacturer, which wholesales to the furniture industry, as their art director. He has designed and produced art for furniture companies such as Rooms-to-Go, Havertys, Matter Brothers, and Thomasville.

Stanley took his art in a new direction in 1995 when he became enthralled with the scratchboard technique as a medium that captures and enhances the texture of fantasy creatures. Nominations for Chesley Awards for scratchboard monochrome pieces followed in 1997, 1999,2000 and 2006. Stanley has won numerous awards for scratchboard pieces and paintings at Dragoncon, Worldcon, Lunacon, Boskone, Arisia, Aggiecon, and OASIS, where his Polar Princess won Best of Show in 2001. Stanley's talented use of diverse mediums such as scratchboard, oils, acrylics, digital, pastels, and pencil allow for versatile expression of his fertile imagination.
